it’s time for action and unity rather than recrimination and bitching

 

So here’s the results of the first CART election…

Private Boating

Number of eligible voters: 28,805
Votes cast by post: 5,029
Votes cast online: 2,427
Votes cast by telephone: 142
Total number of votes cast: 7,598
Turnout: 26.4%
Number of votes found to be invalid: 42
Total number of valid votes to be counted: 7,556

A SHOCKINGLY low turn-out!!! If you didn’t vote, don’t even think about complaining now!

Result (4 to elect)

The election was conducted using the single transferable vote electoral system.

The following candidates were elected (in order of election):

HENDERSON, Clive
CAPLAN, Ivor Henry
WELCH, Keith Vaughan
FARRELL, Ann

Pretty much a clean sweep for the IWA and/or affiliates… such a shame that a few truly independent voices such as Andy Tidy and Alan Fincher were not elected.

From my (old boat) perspective too shame Sue Cawson wasn’t elected either…

Votes cast by post: 283
Votes cast online: 96
Votes cast by telephone: 8
Total number of votes cast: 387
Turnout: 37.4%
Number of votes found to be invalid: 1
Total number of valid votes to be counted: 386

Result (2 to elect)

The election was conducted using the single transferable vote electoral system.

The following candidates were elected (in order of election):-

STEVENS, Nigel
MATTS, Anthony

Employees

Number of eligible voters: 1,751
Votes cast by post: 336
Votes cast online: 356
Votes cast by telephone: 79
Total number of votes cast: 771
Turnout: 44.0%
Number of votes found to be invalid: 79
Total number of valid votes to be counted: 692

Result (1 to elect)

The election was conducted using the single transferable vote electoral system.

The following candidate was elected:-

BAILEY, Christopher Alan

So, with all the talking over, it’s time for action and unity rather than recrimination and bitching, and it’s time for the Council to work with those essential local volunteers/associations to ensure that we really do keep the whole waterways project alive as we enter a new era of CART.
