HNBOC becomes HNBC…

Drive up from London to Napton at lunchtime today.

A quick drink in ‘The Crown’ on the green…

and then a walk down to the village hall for 2.00…

and the AGM of The Historic Narrow Boat Owners Club

If such a thing is possible this was a passionate AGM with exciting plans for modernisation of the constitution voted through, not least asserting the centrality of the clubs aims and increasing the base of the club by giving equal status and rights to all passionate enthusiasts of historic boats not just those who’re fortunate enough to actually own an old boat, a point crystallised in the vote to change the club’s name to The Historic Narrow Boat Club.

I was fortunate enough to meet fellow blogger Sarah off Chertsey and (though not to talk to) also recognised James & Amy off Lucky Duck.

With a few minutes to spare I also found time to pop down to the bottom of the Napton Flight.

It’s great to think (and hardly believable to think!) that within the month we’ll be bringing Eileen through here, on our journey to her new home below the Claydon flight.

Sorry not to meet you proper;y, we had hoped to chat to more people after the meeting but we had a long way to go to get home so decided to make a move early. Hopefully see you at another HNBC event!
