HNBOC Autumn Social

This was the first HNBOC event I’d attended. As a new member, and very new owner of a historic boat, I was immediately made to feel right at home. Everyone was welcoming, smiling, and friendly. It was good to finally meet Jim McDonald too, one of 18686’s previous owners, though given the social nature of the event it wasn’t possible, on this occassion, to sit down and have an extended chat with him.

Malcolm Braine, as guest speaker, provided a tantalising glimpse into his extensive archive of BCN-related images and artefacts – so timely –  and utterly fascinating, given my evolving interest in all things relating to BCN  day boats.

There was so much knowledge and enthusiasm for historic boats in the hall, I immediately fell under it’s spell, and have begun to think, no matter how tentatively, of attending the HNBOC Rally next Easter.
