Simple Lettering

Yep, my bodged lettering just had to go… so it was out with the sandpaper, rags, brush and red gloss.

Going, going, gone…

I hunted down a font I liked, photocopied it up to the right scale, with letters approximately 40mm high…

And using ‘graphite paper’ bought from the local art shop I’ve transferred the letters onto the freshly re-painted red band. I’ve not used graphite paper before, hence the messy finger-prints, however marks come off easily with a rubber or damp cloth…

And so I begin again, suitably chastened after rushing the first attempt at lettering. This time I’m taking it slow, enjoying the process, savouring the moment… I’ll keep you in touch with how it goes…
