Small World…

Detail of 1988 photo of Desmond Stoker pg. 119 ‘The Cromford Canal’ by Hugh Potter

I’m just reading the gloriously innocent and atmospheric celebration of sailing on Britain’s canals between the wars: ‘Adventures of The Hebe’ edited by Simon Stoker, and based on original books by his father Desmond Stoker; when in ‘The Cromford Canal’ by Hugh Potter, I come across the photo [above] of the same Desmond Stoker, this time in 1988 ie. some 60 years later, celebrating his 80th birthday bow-hauling the Cromford Canal Society’s John Grey between Leawood Pump and Cromford Wharf… small world eh?!?
